Gel Line Assistant Operator

Responsible for assisting in gel line operations in casting hydrogels for neurostimulation electrodes, according to stated specifications and work instructions during the hours of 7:00 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday
Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Maintain quality standards established by Axelgaard Manufacturing Company (AMC) in gel casting equipment, used to produce hydrogel components of electrodes
  • Support Research & Development by running, and testing materials under development
  • Set up and assist operation of gel casting machines, following work instructions
  • Monitor and adjust processes as necessary to ensure gel quality is 100% accurate
  • Report any inconsistency or non-conforming product to gel operator immediately
  • Responsible for material handling, labeling, and storing of gels made
  • Perform in-process testing as directed and maintain accurate records and documentation for both verification and inventory purposes
  • Follow Company Global Manufacturing Principals
  • Maintain inventory control and electronic transactions
  • Keep accurate records for both verification and inventory purposes
  • Perform shift passdown with co-workers on opposite shift, as necessary
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualification requirements:
  • Must be able to perform each duty outlined above and possess the education, skills, and abilities described in this job description
Education and/or experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three months to a year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals) and ability to write and complete routine reports and simple correspondence
Mathematical skills:
  • Able to apply basic concepts of math (add, subtract, multiply and divide, weights and measures)
Reasoning ability:
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to written or oral instructions understand the importance of quality, safety and customer service
Physical requirements:
  • Must be able to stand throughout the day
  • Constant use of hands and arms
  • Good vision, depth perception, hearing, and speech
  • Able to Lift up to 40 pounds (up to 5 feet high) 3 times a day and 75 pounds (up to 4 feet high) repetitively, when needed
  • Must have no known allergic reactions or sensitivity to chemicals, dust, and fumes
Environmental conditions:
  • Daily exposure to hazardous chemicals and UV lights. Use of personal protective equipment required is required. Exposed to wet floors periodically (3 – 5 times a day), moving equipment parts, and hot and cold surfaces
Other skills/abilities:
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
