Facility Maintenance Technician
($25 to $28 per hour)
Perform a variety of semi-skilled preventive and general maintenance, repair, construction, and renovation work on facilities. Areas of responsibility include, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades work.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare office spaces including painting and simple repairs
- Patch or replace plaster or plaster board and paint walls, ceilings and trim of building
- Bend and cut conduit and wire, and drill holes in walls, floors and ceilings for electrical connections
- Connect wire to fixtures and other electrical equipment, replace switches and fuses
- Bend, cut, and thread pipe, cut openings in walls, ceilings, and floors for pipes, and seal pipe joints with sealing compound
- Cut out and join parts for worktables, benches, shelves and other furnishings
- Install racking systems to utilize maximum space
- Clear clogged drains and replaces plumbing fixtures
- Perform general cleaning and other tasks as assigned
Qualification requirements:
- Must be able to perform each duty outlined above and possess the education, skills, and abilities described in this job description
Education and/or experience:
- High school education or equivalent
- 5-10 years of working experience in facilities maintenance
Mathematical skills:
- Ability to apply basic concepts of math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using weights, measures, and percentages
Reasoning ability:
- Ability to identify problems and review relevant information to evaluate options and develop solutions and ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to walk and stand throughout the day
- Constant use of hands and good depth perception, hearing, speech and vision (including ability to distinguish colors)
- Lifting up to 50 pounds
Other skills/abilities:
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills; customer service oriented
- Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated and able to multi-task
